A lovely quiet day at home

There was a change in the weather yesterday and it was warm and clear for most of the day.  In fact it got so hot that it was 89F inside the RV.  For the last few weeks we have been hovering at 78F inside.  The clouds came in in the afternoon as did the wind but we had a great beach walk.  I think I am going into town next week to get a piece of material  to use to keep my hat on my head in the wind.   I would get a light piece of material and then tie it under my chin if I need to.  I really am getting tired of keeping one hand up holding my hat on my head.

Saw these birds all lined up in a row resting on one leg.

A wave came in and they did not move a feather.

Still in place once the wave receded.

Just a bit of color in the sky last evening.

However as it set a bit west over Mazatlan there was a show of color.  A perfect end to the quiet day.

Sadly the heat only lasted the one day and we were back to less than normal temps but still very acceptable compared to back home.

Does anybody know why they stand on one leg? I see that a lot in FL too.

Birds stand on one leg to rest and to sleep. Here is one of the many examples that Googles gives….
Why Birds Stand On One Leg:

Rest – Your bird spends all days standing on his feet. Standing on one leg gives the other leg some rest and helps reduce muscle fatigue.

Warmth – Your parrot if covered in feathers – but not on his feet! Sometimes, you bird may tuck his foot in his feather to ensure that one leg always stays warm and they cut down on heat loss.

Comfort – Your bird has special ligaments in his toes that make it very comfortable to stand on one leg. Your pet won’t fall off the perch, he’s just resting in a comfortable position.

Sleep – When your bird is asleep, he’ll stand on one foot to get the best of both worlds while he rests.
