Early wake up call

Poor Carmeh.  She woke us up shortly after 6AM with a constant scratching.  We told her to go back to sleep.  She kept twisting and scratching…

Fat little face...

Something bit her, you can see a small bump over her rapidly swelling left eye. We think it must have been a spider that was here in the house. Unlike Mexico we don’t have to rule out scorpions & tarantulas. First I gave her a Claritin ( the human kind ) but soon saw that she was rapidly swelling and becoming more and more itchy so rather than give her 5mg Prednisone I chose to give her 1/2 of a 0.5mg tab of Dexamethasone which started to kick in within 20 minutes.  I sat with her for a few hours and now she is back to normal.  Not the way I like to start my Saturday.

She really can get into stuff, can’t she? Adventuresome type!

Marty, this time it wasn’t her fault. She was sleeping when she got bit. We found a nasty looking spider later in the morning in the next room. I suspect it is what bit her. Poor baby.

  2. Good thing that there is a nurse on the premises!

  3. I hope that Carmeh is feeling better now and that the swelling has gone down. Poor thing!

Poor baby, what a horrible thing to happen, any dibs on what kind of spider?

No idea what kind of spider it was but the one we found had a large body and moved so fast that even when you were watching you could miss it move!! Colin said it was colorful but couldn’t elaborate.
