Fire update
By midday yesterday we could see just a bit further. The smell was less and we slept with open windows last night 😀 So I actually slept a few hours here and there. Today is about the same except the air quality index went down from a 10+ to a 5 or 6 which is a huge improvement. I still can’t see the mountains towards Kelowna but I can see trees on the hills out my desk window. The sun appeared to be a bit brighter today, not so orange.
Vancouver is smothered in smoke since late Sunday, so Colin’s big job there has been delayed until the smoke is gone and the sun shines.
This is the good news……
We leave in five weeks so we really need to get some jobs completed 😐 Colin is making quiet noises about cancelling our October trip to the US. We would take quite a hit on our non refundable event that we were to attend. I don’t want to cancel but we do have to be realistic. If he can get the big job done in Vancouver that will be a huge help.
I just want to share this with you. They are saying that these fires are the new normal. I certainly hope not.

Our little town is being flooded for the 3rd time since June 3. How we wish we could send some rain to our Western States and to BC – would be a good thing for all of us. We have had an unusually wet summer that has affected gardens, yard work and so many other activities. Hoping for rain for you without lighting strikes and good weather for Colin to complete his work.
We’ll pray that the experts are wrong and things return to pre-16 days. That will ruin people’s breathing.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
It’s bad on Vancouver Island as well. My eyes and lungs hurt. Hopefully the rain will start soon. Our son Chris has been deployed to Vernon now to help with the fire fight.
I sure hope you get rain. Yesterday they had rain in the forecast for Sunday, now that is gone 🙁 They need to change the way forestry is managed and do fire bans way earlier in the season (May 1?). Nothing you can do about lightening though
Wow those photo’s are a great depiction of what has happened over the last three years … let’s hope next summers photo is back to 2016!
