A new day and more RV problems
It was a struggle walking back through the soft sand but I managed. I am in the midst of organizing a catamaran cruise to see the Carnival fireworks on March 2nd. We will be picked up here at the RV park and the boat will leave from the Isla and three hours later will return us here. An open National bar including beer and food is included, all for $59.00 USD. No stress of having to fight the crowds to see the famous fireworks. However I have had the stress of organizing this and trying to find the forty people to keep the rate at that low price. Tonight I am at 35 takers of which 34 have paid me. I have to pay the entire event in full by January 29th on my credit card so I do need a firm commitment from everyone before doing that. That means that I have been busy every day with this project.
We are having maintenance work done on the RV, some involves painting. The painters never showed up today 😥 They were here yesterday!! However Eric our RV tech did come by about 10AM. He had a list of four items but only got two done.
Then he hooked up the generator after doing the flush and found a leak. It took a long time to find that the source of the leak was the radiator to the generator. It took even longer to realize that there was no way he could remove our generator in order to take out the radiator which will need to be totally rebuilt. Bottom line we can’t drive anywhere until we get a new muffler and we also have no generator. We do use our generator a lot as we head back home. What to do? Well first we need to get the painting done, get a new muffler and then work on the how to fix the generator. We need a facility that we can drive the RV up on a ramp or ?? so that the generator can be taken out, etc.
It has not been a good day for us. We are reeling from all of this ( the painting was an expected expense ) but not these other major repairs. So no sunset photos, nor shots of the two cruise ships heading out. We are both unsettled. Tomorrow the sun will shine again and everything might fall into place. We are strong and always manage to figure things out 😎

I feel so sad hearing what a bad day you have had 🙁 I sure hope everything works out and that you find the rest of the people for your fireworks party … it sounds like so much fun! If we were there you could definitely count us in 🙂
It would be wonderful to have you join us.
Sorry for the woes that have come your way. We too have had a year of unexpected expenses and repairs. However tomorrow is a new day and eventually all of this shall pass.
I hope you find more folks to fill the boat for the fireworks party. Sounds like a fun time will be had for sure.
We are at 36 confirmed and paid for the cruise. However I do wish the RV repairs were not such a pain.
Good luck with getting your repairs all taken care of until more issues arrive.
The fire works cruise is fun , wedded that with Tris and Merle back in 2010, good luck with getting you group together.
I thought that that fireworks cruise did not happen due to high winds and waves. RV repairs are not going well.
Sorry to hear about your woes. Sometimes every turn it seems a new problem arises. Tackle each one by itself then address the next one and you wil see your way through. Looking forward to joining you and Colin at the fireworks in Maz.
By the time you get here, I may need you to hold my hand with what we have to face.
What a great idea of renting the catamaran trip. That will be a blast and now that you’ve posted this on the blog, many of the Mazatlan lurkers will be replying I’m sure. Good luck!
Wish you were here.
If it wasn’t for bad luck, we’d have no luck at all!
But I’m confident everything will work out…you are very resilient. Hoping for better days!!
If we were there, we’d love to see the fireworks…maybe next year.
Thanks for your thoughts. Would love to have you join us. Never again, too much work getting this firework cruise going.
Contessa, Alan has the right idea, parsing out each problem and brainstorming each problem for a solution. Just wondering, when you and Colin are ready to head north, can you tolerate a couple of nights without the generator? Here is where I’m going–I notice before you leave Canada you know where you are stopping for errands, maintenance, and such in the US before you cross into Mexico; I can safely assume that is because you have done your research. There are a number of bloggers who make advance appointments for RV overhaul work with companies like Freightliner in Texas and Louisiana; of course, your RV probably isn’t ready for an overhaul because Eric over time has been taking care of things in piecemeal fashion. However, the generator removal and repair can be done with the right equipment at a company in the US who specializes in generators for semi trucks and large diesel pusher RVs like Freightliner. The only difference is that you will be making the appointment for the repair from Mexico instead of Canada. Just thinking out loud!
I always appreciate you input Dee. This time it i better to have this looked after here in Mexico despite the hassle. We always see Freightliner at home and they take forever on the smallest things.
I feel so sad hearing what a bad day you have had ? I sure hope everything works out and that you find the rest of the people for your fireworks party … it sounds like so much fun! If we were there you could definitely count us in ?
