Que Pasa
I was awake at 6AM on Sunday the 17th, our first morning here. So happy to look out and see the fishermen.
Colin and Ismael went to pick up the dust screen and our small fridge. All the rest of our stuff was left at the bodega. We were not ready to take on too much.
But the dust screen needed to get put up. However with the extremely high humidity the sand was dampish. In years past we have arrived as early as Novmember 4th, so glad that we were delayed this year. So very hot. This is not the temperature that we are used to. Good to have the small fridge getting cooled down as our RV fridge was not dealing will with the humidity and I needed to move things out to let it have some breathing space. We also moved our flower pots to where they belonged. They all look well except that Ismael has cut the hibiscus way back. He does this for the health of the plant and so that there will be more flowers. I really prefer that my plants be tall as we use them as a divider between sites. Normally I would go out and purchase new plants but I simply have no extra energy so have decided to let it go. No sunset of note Sunday.
Monday was power washing day. The patio was filthy and there were numerous areas covered in oil and grease. Some of the paint has worn away last year and was even worse this winter.
So I power washed which I like to do while Colin did whatever else he did. However many tiny pieces of paint were sent everywhere. So the next thing we had to do was pick them all up.
Once the paint chips were picked up I raked the entire front area to pick up trash, large rocks, and misc debris such as cigarette butts. Colin sifted thru my piles for garbage and also cut the palm tree roots that were sticking up. We don’t want me to be tripping nor anyone else.
I also raked the back area and that was enough as I was getting a blister on my left thumb. As you can see I am wearing as little as possible. This weather is reminding us of our our Acapulco days.
Ismael came by just as we were starting to have our lunch. I had asked him to please trim our palm tree. All that dead grey stuff from his right hand up to the new palm branches were removed.
I was done for the day and chose to sit and relax and finish a library book on my iPad. The palma looks much better.
Colin has much more energy and proceeded to wash the back and front cap of the RV along with the long patio side. It looks wonderful. Things are coming together.
It was still hot and humid with some high waves.
The banana boat was heading out.
I actually thought that he might flip backwards.
Colin was about to get into the shower when the air conditioning fellows arrived. Gosh we had only been here 48 hours and here they were eager to help us.
He immediately found the problem, the reason we have no dash A/C. The compressor is not working.
Getting to the heart of the matter.
Parts are rusted and seized and the bearings are bad.
The fellows were going to try and find replacement parts but after discussing this with a few of the RVers here Colin decided that it would be wise to get an entire new compressor unit. Who knows what else might be rusted/broken further into the unit. He has spent the past few days doing research on getting a replacement part.
The beginning of Monday’s sunset. We then went to the other end of the park to have a happy hour drink with three other couples.
The sunset evolved into something pretty special. I was finally starting to relax.

Wow you had a busy day and everything looks great … including the sunset!
It actually was a post over two days. The first few photos were about Sunday and then the rest about Monday. It was wonderful finally see an Isla sunset.
I’m glad things are finally coming together for you. Next week by this time you guys will be thinking about trips into town and dining out.

Had the A/C compressor replaced on the truck at home this summer. It’s always something on old stuff but..new isn’t necessarily better.
We are worried about the rust in the areas of the compressor that we can’t see. It is 19 years old and has been in salt air every one of those winters.

Thanks Rick. Sometimes it is better to go with a new unit. So far we have found the part with a huge discrepancy in pieces. Turns out that Spartan marks their parts up 100%.
Letting go of things is wonderful (your plants) sometimes, good for mental health. Life has been a marathon lately for you too, time to settle in 🙂 Zihuatanejo is very warm year round, even in January 33 degrees. I was a little shocked after spending time in Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. But we love it and are counting the days until we get back (70 days now)
When we wintered in Acapulco for five years we had to be ogg the beach by 8AM as it was too hot. Don’t know how we managed.
Looks like you never left. We are so jealous, wish we were there.

Why aren’t you hear???
Glad the two of you are slowly getting things accomplished. No need to rush. Hopefully the repairs go well and without too much drain on the bank account. At least you’re knocking things off those lists of ‘to do’. Relax, enjoy and stay cool.
Yes the to do lists are getting smaller with a few adjustments here and there.
