I did it!

Yesterday was a special day and it might take two blogs to share it with you.

I was on the computer when I realized that Colin was in the kitchen cooking.  A few moments later I was presented with this lovely breakfast of French toast compete with a dash of cinnamon.  Even better it was made on the last of the homemade bread. First time in 33 years that we have had French toast.  Wow, lucky me. Best thing I have ever tasted.  Colin is a keeper.

We went for a walk between light rain showers and checked out the garden which appeared dry despite the overnight rain.  Somehow I managed to not get my second set of knee exercises done. Totally involved in things and they slipped my mind.  I am good in the morning but by evening I forget to do them.  Today I did both sets of exercises but only managed a mini walk.  You would think that by now I would have my act together. Perhaps I should make some signs to remind me and hang them everywhere.

After the walk I settled down to complete the taxes but realized that I would not get it done in one day.  Well not only did I get it done but I actually balanced the entire year to the penny.  I did it!  Now we have to send all this paperwork to our accountant in Vancouver where he will do his magic with the numbers.  Only then will we know how much we owe both personally and for the company. Perhaps a refund.  So great to have it done not to mention again to  balance to the penny.

My next task was to clear our dining room table that has been covered since mid October. We use it put things on that need to be moved to the RV and in the reverse in the spring.  Then I use it do the taxes. I had added a pile of coins I found in a drawer to be wrapped, all pennies, dimes and nickels.  Enough to buy a bottle of vino. Now I have to wait for the bank to open to bring these in.  I think I have this design in my mind.

Voila!  We have our dinning room table back again.

My mind is now free.  Just a very few small to dos and then I can start reading again.  This is going to be a two part post because we have to eat.  Hang in there and you will get the rest of story.  It really was a very fun evening.

  1. No, quarantine is definitely not the same for everyone 🙁 Well done on your taxes! Our accountant does ours in February for the Company (corporation so separate from our personal) but I did manage to finish ours on Turbotax yesterday. Glad to have that off my plate. Also did my April month end paperwork for the company. Today the sun is shining and the birds are chirping!! So glad that grey weather has passed. I actually had to go to the bank yesterday and request 10 – 5s (for eggs and tips), loonies, toonies and 10s. Although lots of things are done online a few are not and I hate being without cash.

Our year end is February 28th and he bases our personal taxes on how the company did. He really plays with the figures to our benefit. You can go into a bank? We can’t. They are shut down and locked with the lights off, at least our bank is. Glad you got your taxes completed a well as the April month end done. I need the company bank statement to finish off April.

It feels good to tick things off the neverending to do list. Taxes on mine too. Been decluttering each room and already took a large load to Goodwill.
We love French toast but I usually use leftover hamburger or hot dog buns or just keep a bag in the freezer. Glad you enjoyed it!

We love French toast as well but have never made it a home before so this was an extra special treat. When this is all over or mostly over your home will be in top top shape. Now get those taxes done 🙂

  3. Great minds think alike for the French Toast but we unfortunately didn’t have Homemade Bread to use.
Nice to get things straightened up keeping things neat.
Those pictures are a grim reminder of reality.
Be Safe and Enjoy your home.

    It’s about time.

I got the urge to complete my taxes yesterday as well. I know we have another month but why not do it now. Not much else to do. LOL. I printed Norma’s and took them downtown to be mailed and never got around to netfiling mine. Now I have something to do today.

Taxes must be in the air. I think because we usually only have until the end of April we are all feeling the urge to get it done. Mine are done but I won’t be paying anything until the last possible minute.
