Change in the air
Today we have a high humidity ( well for us it is ) 48% and a touch of fog.
Yesterday we had a bit of a scare. We lost Carmeh for a while. It was Dec. 12th, the Virgin of Guadalupe Day, a popular Mexican religious celebration. Usually celebrated with vigils, prayers and entire neighbourhoods getting together. As with all Mexicans celebrations fireworks are a big part of this day. Someone near us kept setting some off, the sounds were very loud and Carmeh simply escaped. Caeli hid under a table and stayed in the yard. Once we realized that Carmeh was gone the search began, she was found under another RV as far as she could get from the noises. Thanks to those who helped look for her.
Several years ago when she was young we had a breakdown on Dec. 12th just north of Puerto Escondido. Eventually ( 6 hours later ) we were towed into a tiny town that was in the midst of the celebration. The Pemex barely could fit 5 cars never mind our bus but we after passing some pesos around, we were allowed to park there for the night blocking part of the pumps. The entire night was one big & very loud explosion after another. Carmeh has never recovered from that trauma. She spent that night long ago trying to fit between the floor and the gas peddle of the RV. Now she tries to fit between the wall and the toilet. She got many special hugs last night, poor thing.
Meanwhile enjoy the view from our site, taken a few nights ago.

Poor pooch! Merlin barks at them, and just before the 4th of July, when Chloe has had enough, she will hide under my desk. Dogs just aren’t fond of those big noises-we had a poodle mix once that would have seizures!
The Resurrection Parish Catholic church in Bozeman decided to hold a Lady of Guadalupe celebration last night. We are gaining more and more Mexicans in the area, so the priest is working hard to make them feel welcome. Judging by the photos in the paper it was a beautiful celebration.
I guess once a month they have a mass in Spanish.
Marty…..how great that Bozeman, MONTANA recognized this celebration.
Connie… it is a gorgeous view and I know what you meant the first time:)
George….yes & yes.
Kevin…I would have loved to see Whiskey trying to hide like that.
Susie…thanks for keeping an eye out for her.
Longdog2…July 1st in Canada is our bad one although there are fireworks restrictions which helps a bit.
Elaine….confession time…I did buy her a thundershirt on our way here BUT I neglected to get her use to it and they say not to use it in a negative situation the first time. I will get working on it tomorrow. Today was massage day :))
Poor Carmeh! She could write a book for sure! Love the gorgeous view from your site – breathtaking – now words needed!!!
Gotta love the view and its a good thing you found Carmeh.
no words needed, not, now words needed!!!!
We know what you mean about Carmeh trying to get into a spot as far away from the noise as possible. Whiskey was exactly the same way. She hated the noise and would also try to hide behind the gas pedal and she was quite a bit bigger than Carmeh. We had a very quiet time here at Punta Perula. There were hardly any big bangs and most of the ones we did hear were a fair distance away.
The next holiday for noise will be Christmas.
Kevin and Ruth
Poor little Carmeh running away from the noise. We used to have a doxie that would leave the room if Dave took his guns out to clean them. Now she lived with a young couple with a baby when we got her and she was never around when Dave did some target practice so that one was hard to figure out. We always made sure we were home on the 4th of July because of the fireworks.
Sooo happy you found Carmeh what a horrible experience for her, lot,s of hug,s from us and Sara…Love the pic of sunset..
poor baby girl Carmeh…Lilly is the same totally petrified and shakes from head to toe when there is loud thunder or fireworks…she hides in the MH bathroom trying to get behind the flush…I often wonder about those thunder jackets and plan to look into one in the US…..give her big snuggles from us and tucker and lilly…gorgeous gorgeous view from your RV…hugs my friend
Contessa. We miss the people and the weather but definetly not the bugs.
Larry……thank goodness most of the bugs stay at RV2!!
Sandie….they certainly can upset us, mainly because they are so helpless. I am working on the thundershirt today.
My heart skipped a beat when you said you lost Carmeh. We lost Scooter once and I was a mess by the time we found our wandering fur kid. Scooter is also our fearful one with the fireworks and thunderstorms. She does like her thundershirt. It doesn’t stop all of the shaking and fear, but it sure does help and she loves it when we put it on her. So glad you found Carmeh. That’s scary.
