We saw Mars

This was supposed to have been posted two weeks ago but better late than never. A few weeks ago the planet Mars was visible to the naked eye.

Colin took this about 8PM.

Mars itself. Pretty good for a hand held camera.

That night and over the next two nights I was able to see Mars move to the right of the moon and then about 5AM just below the moon.  Probably a one time event in my life. Did any of you see Mars?

  1. The second picture of the Moon looks like a face.
    Congratulations on your sighting.
In our area it would be impossible to see most stars due to Light Pollution.
That’s why we love the Southwest in the Winter. All you see is Stars.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It’s about time.

Gracias. Light pollution and clouds truly affect us seeing so much of nature. I guess none of us will be seeing those stars in Arizona this winter.

Great pictures and wow you were up at 5 a.m. 🙂

I saw the moon when I was out for my walks but didn’t really look for Mars.

  4. We saw Mars too and pointed the star out to Benno, but have to admit I didn’t know it was Mars!

So glad that you saw it even thought you had no idea it was Mars. I read about it in the news which is why we were on the look out.
