The sun tried to appear this morning. It did actually come out for a few hours mid afternoon..
Trying to get the perfect ice / rain chain shot. The sun just isn’t hitting that area as it is low in the sky.
Sunset in the west.
Reflective sunset in the east. I actually went outside to take this one and was rewarded with the moon reflection.
We should have gone for walk today despite the cold but concentrated on other areas of our winter preparation instead. We did do one very special thing today and I will post about that tomorrow. A big first in our lives.
Has this happened to you? Forgetting your mask that is?

Howdy, love the snow around the lake pictures; the water chain looks awesome with the solidified snow on it. Negative, I never forget my mask, I always keep a couple of ‘ fresh ones ‘ into a ziplock, into my purse. Many of us have the feeling that this Covid virus business could go on for several more ‘ waves ‘ & possibly last for few more years 😉 😉
My regards: Lucy.
Yes I also keep masks in a ziplock in my purse. Glad you are enjoying the ‘ice sculpture ‘, it keeps changing. quite fun to watch.
You always take nice sunset pictures! And I love how the ice is falling down the rain chain.
Ahh and I love you sunrise photos. The ice on the rain chain keeps changing as when it warms a bit, the ice turns to water, drip by slow drip. Interesting to watch.
Holy crap you sure got a cold snap and snow. We missed it fortunately but we were complaining when it got to minus one yesterday morning. Such pretty pictures though. Hubby and I kept forgetting our masks so we bought a 50 pack of those blue ones and put 10 extra in each vehicle and I keep an extra in my purse too. Any time I go to a medical appointment I use the disposable ones so I can get rid of it – cutting the strings first of course (so birds don’t get caught in it at the dump)
We have broken all kinds of snow and cold temp records. Of course, on our first winter here!! I keep three masks in my purse as Colin is always forgetting his. I did not know that about cutting the strings re the birds. You should put that on your next blog.
Oh BRRRR. But it’s beautiful. Thanks for the photos etc.
Yes BRRRRR. Tonight should be our last cold night and hopefully we will warm up a bit.
That Hindsight Cemetery is poignant!!
Very sad but we all have a choice.
You are getting into the Holiday spirit when you bake fruit cake; that’s the only time we have it around here. The new fresh fallen snow probably helped put you in the mood. Fresh home baked fruit cake always tastes better than the ones you buy in the store.
When Beach and I were married in the 1960s, I took him to a small farming town where my Dad and Mom grew up, Claxton, Georgia; we stopped at the large Claxton Fruit Cake bakery/factory, and I introduced him to the owner of the company, Albert Parker. (Yes, everyone who grew up in that town of 2 to 3,000 are related to each other and, therefore, know each other.) By the 1960s, the company had a great marketing strategy, and these cakes were being sent all over the world. He sent us home with a lot of freebies; but I have to tell you that those cakes are awful and are hard as brick bats. Beach always jokes that Mr. Parker only has to make one fruit cake at Christmas, and it’s passed around to friends and family all over the globe at Christmas time. My point is that the very best fruit cakes are the home made ones; The Parkers lost the “home made” flavors and tastes when they added preservatives and resorted to high volume production.
Would love to try your recipe once you and Colin have given it a good taste test. Of course, I would need to make two, one for God-fearing people and one for heathens. Ha!
