A bit more Christmas from our house

It appears that my post yesterday fell flat. Perhaps I should have explained that the reason this park is full is because of Covid and that the Canada/US border is closed. This park is normally very quiet here in the winter. But this year the snowbirds have headed west within Canada. It was a surprise to us because we leave here because of the cold yet others have chosen to come here to get away from the cold. For all of our sakes I hope that we have a milder winter. It is of interest to us to see all the different people here and how they are planning to cope over the next few months.

Just another wee corner of decor. I no longer have any blossoms on any of my cacti.

This is our Christmas tree from the RV. It has traveled with us for twenty Christmases. The various penguins and two mice have been packed away and are happy to be out.  It sits to the far right of our front window bay.

The two tall white tubes are called heat tubes and have a small fan at the top.  They are hung four or five inches from the ceiling and they suck the hot ceiling air and push the air down out the bottom, creating more even heating in the house. We decided to wrap the red garland around them to create a more festive look.

Not having a mantle I used the buffet to create an area to display some of my ornaments. Colin tends to hang out here in the morning playing. These photos were taken shortly after we put the tree up end of November, hence no snow nor frozen lake.

On the far right.

Middle.

Left side.

My late afternoon hangout area. Looking pretty white out there. A book, some wine and Christmas carols, what more can I want? Chocolate!

A Christmas movie that you might want to check out, filmed here in Canada.

We quite enjoyed it. Ed Asner plays Santa.

We all need to make an effort to stop the climb of the virus. It is up to each and everyone of us.

Just a few chuckles.

Cold is relative. Warmer than where I was is always better. 🙂

And every chuckle is appreciated as well.

So true, well said. I would rather be warm on the Isla but we have come to terms with our lives this winter and so we making the best of it.

Your home looks lovely. We leave for Vancouver/surgery tomorrow and yet only yesterday I find I need a covid test. I had a fit and explained I lived in a small town and it wasn’t easy to book them. The nurse ended up calling Island health who called me to book me an appointment for this morning. It used to take 7 hours here on hold to get an appointment (my friend got tested in September) and used to be the nose swab but I got the gargle test which was waaaay easier and better. Merry Christmas to you both!

We are loving being here for Christmas. I am furious for you that you only discovered at the last minute that you needed a COVID test. That is huge thing to fall thru the cracks. So glad that it all worked out but I can sense your stress level from here. The nose swab is the worst test ever. I had it once, because they thought I might have picked a bug up in Europe. It was horrid. Glad you got a reprieve on that as you have enough coming up. I am thinking of you and mentally following your schedule. Hey make sure that you have a reservation for the ferry tomorrow. But knowing you, you already do.Tonight we are heading out to see the Parade of Lights. You park and stay in your vehicle or stand outside and watch some floats go by. It covers many miles so there is room for social distancing. Had some up close actions with eagles both yesterday and today. Will post about that soon.

Thanks for another great post. Love all your decorations! I am making more Christmas cake today. Gave my last ones to my sister to put in goody bags for their Church seniors. Have a great day!

Glad that I am helping pass the time during our enforced time here in Canada. You are very generous to pass on that cake. We are almost halfway through ours. If I make more it will be your recipe. How wonderful of your sister to be helping to make Christmas special for others.

We have always loved our home here which is our final home. However having been able to decorate the house for Christmas has made it even more special. Thank you for always being there. Isn’t it amazing how we found each other again while looking at Gusave photos online. So looking to spending time with you once we get back to normal – whatever that means.
