Ten steps ahead of us
The girls are picking new things up everyday. They definitely like to be mentally stimulated and challenged. So if any of you have any suggestions on how to entertain a puppy, never mind two, please share.
They are also growing. They were never weighed because of Covid and having to see the vet for the first time in a van on the street for their shot and first exam. I weighed them last Friday on my cooking scale. I put them in a bowl on the scale. So a week ago, the oldest by 2.5 hours, Carlie, weighed 3.44 Ibs. Today she was 3.84lbs. Last week Ciela weighed in at 2.91 lbs and today she was 3.3lbs.
Remember how I could not make comments on others blog posts on Safari and how it came and went before I lost it forever? Fortunately I figured out how to make comments using Chrome. A few days ago I lost that ability. I am really hoping that it will sort itself out. Just know that I am reading your posts. Of course I am somewhat occupied with the new pups so I may not always email you back with a comment.

Beautiful sunset pictures! And puppy pictures 🙂
🙂
I am so in love with your twins. We are still puppy sitting our friend’s puppy and she is quite the handful. Three hours and we are exhausted. And you have two of them 24 hours a day. The joy they bring is so incredible.
They joy is great but the exhausted part is huge. Give us a few more weeks. Very brave of you to puppy sit.
The joys of seeing the pups learning what life is about. Cute Pictures
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
I just can’t get one how they change from day to day.
Hi Contessa — The cutie-pies are growing which is wonderful. Keeping them busy and their little brains occupied and experiencing new things is a challenge but so important at this age. My friend Carol, who has raised Cavaliers for 3 decades (and who fostered and raised my litter when they were orphaned at birth) uses lots of different things, many of which are really meant for human children. She often finds items at garage sales and has also “borrowed” her grandbabies’ things when they outgrow them.
One of the best ideas is a “puppy play gym” some are made just for puppies and you can add/subtract toys, another 1 is for babies but works for little dogs (you do have to keep an eye on the pups to make sure they don’t swallow something) I cannot paste the links so will have to email you.
You can take an empty plastic water bottle (it makes wonderful crinkle noise which my dogs chase around the house. -Just make sure the top is screwed on tight. Carol also has plastic baby yard toys outside (climbing house with steps and a house, a plastic tunnel, that sort of thing. Your idea of taking them for walks is great – the more they see, sniff, meet new people the better. To help them learn to walk on lead, hold a small piece of delicious smelling cooked meat in front of their nose and let them follow it along (it will kill your back, but it works!) Take them into stores with you – either in your purse with head sticking out, or carrying them. Home Depot is a great place, but any large box store will work. It’s hard socializing puppies during the Covid. Chewy.com has some great toys including Outward Bound company toys. My Dad used to say it takes 2 yrs before you can stand living with a dog. LOL. BTW, current thinking about vaccines, especially for small breed dogs, is to not give more than 1 vaccine type at a time and wait 3-4 weeks between vaccines, i,e, Distemper/Parvo then 3 weeks later Rabies. Vets are having us over-vaccinate our dogs and it is causing serious health issues and death. We’re also delaying spaying until at least 9-12 months old to allow growth plates to close. Lynn
So many great ideas. We will see what we come up with. I agree about the vaccines. Thanks for the email with the links.
Our pups had a lot of fun with large cardboard boxes into which we cut two openings so they could crawl in and out. They would climb on top of them, take toys inside etc. However, these boxes don’t live very long, depending how much use they get, but are a cheap interaction and fun. Also some small tupperware bowls you can spare (will be unusable afterward from teethmarks) will amuse them for a while.
We have used the boxed in the past. I did try some Tupperware today and it went over well. Thank you.
Ha. More adventures in dogdom. You are brave souls. Meanwhile, ever try Firefox from Mozilla? I am a big fan. I’ve got Apple stuff, but prefer Firefox as I have never had any problems at all anywhere. Because of that I haven’t tried Chrome. And have ignored Safari as well.
Yes I used to use Firefox but reverted back to Safari because of all the issues with Firefox.
