Yesterday and tomorrow
Yesterday, October 21st was the day that we would have headed south had the border been open.
I was surprised to see that it is 10:35PM. I am on a roll and don’t want to stop. Colin made me a small grilled cheese sandwich for protein and energy, it was yummy. The wine is flowing. I was about to hop into the tub but thought I would do this quick post. Thank you all so much for your comments, it is giving me the inspiration to keep on going. I came to the realization today that if we did not travel south we would spend the winter regretting not having made the effort. All I need now are prayers and positive thoughts that we will have three good days to get through the mountains starting November 11th.
Tomorrow ( October 23rd ) was the first day that we had snow last October . So early and so much snow. Click here for that post.
I know that many of you are concerned about us heading to the Isla. However we will be masking up and limiting our time with others in the RV park. I don’t know if I mentioned that everyone staying in the park must be fully vaccinated. We also will not be having our happy hours nor our large pre Christmas pot luck, we are pulling back for this season. The winter of 2023 might be very different. Our last Christmas party on the Isla, December 23rd, 2019. Santa even made an appearance. Click here for those photos.
Yes there likely will be a line up. I got the last site at our preferred RV park in Las Vegas. The first few days are going to be chaotic. That is why we decided to wait until the 11th. Plus we have had to wait for an RV part to come in for the electrical hot water system.

That snow is beautiful! We are going to stay in South Dakota through Christmas then think about heading somewhere.
But where would you go to? Have you ever gone south to Mexico?
we went to K 21 yesterday to do all paperwork. But are stuck here at DeAnza for a few more days – waiting for our hot water heater to be fixed or replaced. RV tech will be here tomorrow. So had to extend our stay -300 a week which is 15 dollars a day cheaper than pay by day. don’t know when we”ll get on the road. Will post some pictures from here to Km 21 later today also few changes there. Warm here days but cold at night.
Thank you so very much for your updates. They are charging us $64.00 for the night – cash. More if we use the credit card. At this moment we are waiting for parts for our electric heater. I guess parts area hard to find due to COVID. I hope yours gets repaired soon. We will be there on the 21st of November but you will be long gone.
maybe you could get a boot for your ankle from the hospital to wear if you are walking.marilyn
Thank you for the idea. The doctor nixed it but I should have done it. I am doing a bit better these past few days.
We are so looking to travelling along with you on this trip. Safety, safety, safety – and yes we know you will be extra cautious. Above all – enjoy.
We are going to be extra cautious and pain to double mask in certain areas. So happy to have you along with us once again.
We have left Kelowna twice at the end of November and had good roads all the way so I’m sending those positive thoughts your way 🙂
I love the last cartoon! I have been looking for one to use on my blog on November 8th because I am sure there will be long line ups but we just don’t care. We will sit in the line up and be happy to be across the border and heading south.
We wish you safe travels on the 10th!
You picked a good day to travel. So much rain since you left. Leaving on the 11th.
One of the good things about RVing is even when you are waiting in line you are already at home. But, I do think your idea of waiting until the 11th is a good one.
Once we had a four hour delay due to an accident. Colin put on the TV and watched something. Sadly after all that time we had to do a million point turn on the highway as we could not get thru. Of course we had to unhook the Jeep first. The front and the back of the RV was hanging over the ditch as we turned. We did get it done eventually.
I hope your leg is improving, this damp weather doesn’t help!!
You can check border waits using this site, won’t get you across faster but maybe it will help to determine the best day to leave.

Cheers and safe travels!
Thank you for that. My foot is about 30% better over that past few days. Of course now I have to start the shopping for the trip. Will take it day by day. Batten down your hatches for the storm coming your way.
I’m so glad you’re going….Life is short for us all and we should do what we want while we can. If the weather closes in on you for a few days you’ll just hunker down and enjoy each other’s company while you wait it out. I hope you’ll have smooth sailing, but if you don’t it will be another adventure to blog about.
We’re sending positive thoughts your way for a good trip and a great winter!
“Life is Short ” have been my favourite expression for at least 30 years now. Yes ww should do want we want while we can, who knows what the futures will bring. We need to live each day to the fullest. Thank for the positive thoughts.
So good to hear that you’ll be making the trip South. Looking forward to following along.
I will try to make it interesting for you.
We took the plunge and made the decision to escape south from England to Southern Spain and Portugal and we made the right decision. We have kept ourselves to ourselves, worn masks which the locals seem to do all the time as well. We feel very safe and are enjoying amazing weather and food. What could be better. Have a safe trip.
Oh good for you. We so loved our time in Barcelona & Seville ( and other parts of Spain ) and Portugal. Hope you get to Porto.Yeah to the weather and the food – don’t forget the wine.
Oh I haven’t forgotten the wine Contessa. Portuguese and Spanish have both been excellent and ridiculously cheap. We’re in heaven!
I liked the pics of the moon and the fall coloured trees. We just started losing more of the leaves off the trees this week. We’ve been blessed with a wonderful fall season. So pretty!
Yesterday it was wet and cold and both Sequoia and Opal didn’t want to go out to do their business 🙂
I can’t wait to see the pictures of your trip!
Blessings for safe travels and health 🙂
Your poor puppies, wait until the snow flies.
