This is the catch up post I promised while we were still in Yuma getting the repairs done.
Our first night staying in the gravel parking lot. I was working on the blog of course.
Colin’s lithium photography battery gives us a place to charge some essentials.
Worn ball joint, metal on metal. Just like when our knees and hips wear out.
Once the RV was in the bay we left to do a few errands, once of which was a visit to a lovely off leash dark park.
The girls tried out their new water bottle. Here on the beach they can’t be bothered. too many distractions.
Next stop was to meet Stacie and Bob for lunch. Not the most flattering photo but it was the only one that was taken. As you can see the girls are in their penned area. It was a great visit and we were going to go see them at their place but decided instead that we should head directly to the RV.
Which turned out to be a very good thing. They were almost done. And then they weren’t. Turns out the final piece to install, one of the tie rod ends was not the correct piece, the thread was going the wrong way. They tried but there was nothing they could do. As the RV was unable to be driven we had to go to a hotel. The shop was closed and they wanted us out of there. So it was a mad scrabble to yet again unload the Jeep and to reload it with stuff to go a hotel for the night.
Small but adequate. Special thanks to S & B who responded to my urgent call to find us a pet friendly hotel while we packed and loaded and left. They only had rooms left on the top floor and there was no elevator. Colin is the one who went up and down over and over and took the girls out as needed.
The girls quite liked the hotel experience.
The only place to sit where they could see outside. An extra pillow on top of their bed in case they jumped.
I am using the headboard as a backrest and Carlie is tucked as close as she get get to me. Yes that that is a fleece dog blanket keeping me warm and my fleece jacket.
In case you missed it, click here to read the post I wrote about our unexpected adventure. This post is where I do the summary of had had happened.
Upper and lower ball joints that needed to be replaced. WOW! We were lucky to have survived that 35mph drive from Quartzsite to Yuma. We certainly could not have driven any further than those seventy miles.
We are back to real time and the que pasa of our day to day life here on the Isla.
Now that is a sight you won’t see again. However did they keep them all so still?
I bet you are glad that is behind you! Those ball joints look well-worn and in need of replacement.
We were so very fortunate that it happened when it did and that we have new front end.
