Lovely new walk area in the Amaitlan botanical gardens

Back in 2011 construction was begun on a huge project including botanical gardens.  Amaitlan is directly behind us in both RV1 and RV2. My link to an article from 2011 no longer exists. We actually saw the destruction of the coco palm plantation to build the project which began 11 years ago.  Click here for a link from a post I wrote in January 2015 on our first walk in the botanical gardens. Colin has been taking the girls there this winter for their first walk of the day. I finally went with them last Sunday.

We never even went into the original section of the project.

This new section has many more ponds and bridges.

Sidewalks and roads and much more planting of flowers still needs to be done.

Despite the murky water turtles are surviving, there are three in this photo.

I was shocked at how much has been developed since I was last in the gardens. This is one of two main roads that go directly out to the main highway coming into the Isla ( exit/entrance about where the first set of topes are). The road is not complete but the brick sidewalks on either side are in use.

This is a huge new area. So very many people must be employed to keeps the gardens up.

This path goes the length of RV2 and a bit further south.  The entire area to the left has been prepped for more sidewalks, roads and plants.

The project is huge and current plans can be found here. Right now the push is to sell housing. The architect who has an interesting history passed away in 2021. What will the future bring to Isla de la Piedra?

Guess who was in our bed when I got there last night?

  1. What a lovely botanical garden you have right at your RV parking. You are right, it must take a crew of gardeners for the upkeep. I would love to take our dogs there for a walk.

So lovely to walk in there. I have not been there since we lost our last two doxies back in 2017 – it was where they had their last walk.

Wow looks lovely! I remember when they started it!
