Did you ever wonder…
…what made a musical greeting card work?
In this case it was a very upbeat samba melody which I love and the girls did also. We sort of all danced around. I didn’t want to put the card away so I left it on display fully open like this. Every night for the next week at about about 2 or 3AM, the card would suddenly start playing the samba melody 😯 It woke me up every time. Colin’s mom whom we called Mommio loved dachshunds as much as she did music and dancing. She also loved to play jokes on others. She passed in October of 2019, just ten days before her 105th birthday. You can can read about her, how much fun we all had and how much we loved her by clicking here. So it was only natural for us to think that she was coming around to play a joke on us. After a few days I closed the card ( like in the first photo ) but still left it on display.  The daily musical interlude continued and now sometimes it was twice per day. Very mysterious but fun. We would just wake up and say “that’s Mommio”.
About this time I cleaned out a few drawers and discovered that I had received this same card, again from Colin, back in 2014 or 2015. This older card did not make noise. By now we had put this card that just played when it wanted to into the shed. We really did need to sleep at night 🙂

I am sure it was her playing a practical joke on you! What a great tribute to her. I especially like the casino story!
That time we were in the casino was so much fun. She won the first jackpot and then we did it again, hitting the play button at the same time. I won the second jackpot and then we went home!
Here’s to Mommio!!
Cheers! She loved her wine as well.
That’s really interesting to see the insides of a musical card, maybe you can use it to make your own card.
The card that I took apart was no longer working but the recent card that Colin just gave me still works but we no longer keep it in the house.
Contessa, I also think is Mommio, our loved ones have the way to communicate with us while they are in another plane of existence. But it takes 2 to tango…it’s necessary for us to be open to their messages. Love what Mommio is doing.
My regards: Lucy.
We love having visits from Mommio every now and then but this was a bit much 🙂
Always fun finding out what makes things click.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
This was rather amazing, at least to us. Made in China of course.
