This past Sunday was a fun day

In the morning we left the girls at home and went to do a bit of weeding in the garden. The carrots are far behind as you can see. That is a head of romaine and celery in behind, that Colin snuck into the garden, when I wasn’t looking. We usually only grow from seeds but we many rethink that next spring.

I have now planted Swiss chard three times. Let’s hope that the third time is the charm as the expression goes.

We have peas but they are thin, no fat peas in the pod. Only one person has fat peas in all of the gardens, I really hope that the heat will fatten those peas up.

Yes we finally have heat. Last Friday the sun came out and we had a high of 80.6F/27C. Both Saturday and Sunday it was a perfect 78.8F/26C. Yesterday ( Monday ) it reached 87.8/31C and we fairly had no choice but to put the air conditioning on but there was a lovely breeze and we were able to sit outside in the shade. Today we reached 95F/35C with very little breeze and it was hot 😎 Hopefully this will give our garden the boost that it needs. The rest of the week looks like it will be in the high 80’s to the low 90’s. Grow garden, grow 😀

First time that I have planted lettuce and I used seeds, the package says ‘Lettuce Salad Bowl’. It is very tasty and can be picked by using the entire head or just by picking the outer leaves which is what I have been doing. We now have so much of it between the garden and the lettuce I planted in the two flower pots. I will be painting this again.

After lunch we went for a drive looking for off leash dog parks along Woods Lake. The first one has a steep drop off with no beach so me moved on to find the next one.

We had very vague directions and I am not even certain that we found it. We did ask a lady who had a dog and she directed us to walk along this trail.

Off the trail there were a limited number of tiny trails in the bush leading down to the lake. This was the only one that did not have people with their beach chairs. However it was one of the largest areas we saw. Basically the girls just sniffed around. So we moved on down the main trail hoping to find ‘the official’ off leash beach which is supposed to have sand.

We walked and walked. Next thing we knew we were at the people beach, just before the area that they rent boats and other things. There was no one where we were standing, so we let the twins run ( leash still attached ) back and forth a few times.

They knew that this was not Mexico and they weren’t too excited.

Carlie made a bit of an effort to go into the water but the continued waves created by the boat wake as well as the wind stopped her. The sun had disappeared by now and it was cool. Time to head back to the car which was ever so far away.

They were excessively thirsty.

The girls slept deeply all the way home.

Homemade salad with dinner. Everything from our garden including 3 different types of lettuce, radish, green onion ( first time I have grown this )  basil and cilantro.

It was ever so flavourful.

Then we were treated to a gift from Mother Nature. What can I say? Tomorrow night, Wednesday the 13th is a supermoon. So named because the moon will be very bright and appear much larger as is will be closer to the the earth. I hope that you get to see it.

The garden looks like it is coming along nicely. Hopefully you continue to get the weather you need to have a bountiful harvest!

Lots of greens in my garden too. When I grew celery I always used transplants as it took so long to grow. Weather here is cool and showery so at least I don’t have to water!

Love your picture of the moon. We were also able to see it last night. Always nice when the veggies are ready to eat. We have been eating lettuce, spinach and beets. Should be able to eat everything in 2 weeks!

Your garden is doing well and hopefully the heat will help. I have enjoyed the higher temperatures and hope they continue.
