Saturday ( April 14th ) had us driving at 7:30AM. Not far, just to fuel up on diesel and propane. We always like to go home filled up, just in case!!! From Nov 2/11 we only used $26.93 of propane. Colin prefers to not use butane in Mexico. I know you want the details of the details and those will be coming…soon! Good deal for diesel @ 1.359 per litre.
We are driving the Coquilhalla for the first time in 3 years as the road is reported dry and snow free!! NOT!!! Regardless I am happy to be on this route as we save 100 miles!!
As we are about to cross from West Kelowna to Kelowna over the nice new bridge we spotted this poster. It was a shot Colin had done for Woodland Hills just days before we left in October. Not a great shot by myself due to speed and rain but nice to see as we headed home. A reminder of why we 'had' to come home!
The rain stopped for a bit and we had a good 3.5 hours to unload, almost door to door before moving the RV to our beach site. Lucky us! It was a balmy 12C. We drove 196 miles today.
Caeli says....this is where I live. The girls did know where we were as soon as we turned off the HWY.....they are amazing. The snow shovel says it all, don't you think?
We started unloading about 1:15PM which was a bonus for us...this is just one of many piles.
I might not have to buy food till August!!. Both the RV and home freezer are full!! Yes we bring lots with us and always wonder how it will fit into the RV and then back into the house but the best news is, that nothing is ever wasted.
..then calamity struck! I could not get my computer to connect to the house wifi! I WASTED 90 minutes on the phone with Telus before we got cut off....honest it was not me. The worst was the waste of my time! Enough....great dinner, two hours of The Apprentice and lots of vino blanco. Anyway, yesterday, Sunday, our local computer guru, Hugh, came by and in 15 minutes or less I was fixed, well the computer was!!
Sunday was spent putting things away by myself in the house while Colin hooked up the RV and unloaded the car etc. I also did 6 loads of laundry……20 more to go!!
This swan was paddling our lake on Sunday, it was too far out for me to get a good shot but a very tranquil vision and wonderful welcome home.

Glad you’re home safe. Even though that looks like a whole lot of work putting everything away. Do the girls move their toys from the RV into the house? lol
Sandie…you might not like the answer…..the girls have RV toys, home toys, and outdoor toys at EACH of our two sites!!!! We do cull and give to the SPCA often!!!!
Larry….thank you…we do hope to see you all again in the near future. We were in the same city once this past season…very very close.
Connie……are you making fun of me!!!!!!?? It is what it is….I think that might be why we have such a big RV…for all the just in case stuff I bring:) As to the fence….yes we had that custom made for the girls so they could not get out of the yard and we could have a nice looking front with a gate. Just as in Mazatlan the rest of our perimeter ( in both yards ) has the rebar holding up the 36 inch high plastic fencing.
RV Repair….well maybe just 10 more loads….I am washing everything! it was a great trip. Thanks for reading and your comments. Love to get them.
George…..that computer is crucial. I love that you do not have to unpack and reload in the fall….so envious.
Colin and Contessa: Welcome home,
Love the photos! I showed them to Barry to prove that there is someone else out there that packs more stuff than I do. In another month we will be going thru that when we load up and head to our beach cottage for the summer.
I noticed what I would call a fence where Caeli is sitting on the porch. Is that made of glass? Never saw that before – that’s neat!
WOW! 26 loads of laundry! none the less looks like it was a good trip!
Nice that you are safely home and computer up and running again.
Its sure is nice that we never unpack our coach anymore. We don’t even have enough clothes for 6 loads of laundry let alone 26.
Welcome home Contessa & Colin. I have enjoyed reading your blog throughout the winter months. Even if our winter was really very good. I admit Mexico looked just a little better. 🙂
Cheryl…that is so sweet of you. Hopefully one year you will be able to fly down and meet us for a week or so!
Plastic like in fiberglass? Might just have to steal that idea – love that look! And no, not making fun, just happy to know there is someone else just like me!!!!!!??
Connie….like a plastic snow fence. Photo here….http://www.contessajewall.com/oldblog/2011/11/12/so-very-busy/. We buy the green plastic fencing at Home Depot and then buy pieces of rebar that I spray paint green to pound into the ground every few feet, after intertwining within the holes of the plastic. We carry this system with us in the RV and the girls have a fenced in area wherever we go. The only weight is in the rebar. Sometimes Caeli tries to nose her way under the fencing to get out so we twine in some light thin garden type bamboo stakes.
Welcome home! Still looks to chilly though.
Kevin and Ruth
Kevin….freezing is a closer word….using the furnace, 2 fireplaces and 2 oil heaters in the morning to get the chill off. Oh to be retired like you!! Spring is coming, might be 21C this weekend, probable for just a few hours but looking forward to feeling the sun.
Thanks for the info – appreciate it!
