Mexico 2011/2012 statistics
Its been a long time coming but here is part one of some of the details of our trip to Mazatlan/ Stone Island.
We left Kelowna on October 25th, 2011 and returned here to Holiday Park Resort on April 14, 2012. We were gone a total of 172 nights of which 144 nights were spent at Tres Amigos RV Park on Isla de la Piedra aka Stone Island. I love saying the Isla rather than Stone Island, sounds so much more elegant.
Of the 172 nights we did do some boondocking coming and going and spent some mights at a Western Horizon park for $2.00night. Overall we spent $3018.00 on accommodation which works out to $17.55 per night. For those who want to know I am using USD and CAD interchangeably as they were almost at par last season when the money was spent.
Electric cost at Tres Amigos RV Park is charged in USD @ 16 cents per KWH. For our 144 nights there we averaged $2.29 per day, $329.76 overall. The internet charges out at $15.00 per month so that cost us $75.00 for the 5 months we spent there. We purchased a Verizon stick for use in the USA, expensive and a luxury but we did it anyway. Rates vary on what package you purchase. However you can get free WIFI at most McDonald’s and many of the hotels along the highway.
We don’t have a washer/dryer in this RV by choice and found that as usual getting your laundry done is Mexico is very economical. It cost us $150.00 for five months of washing sheets, towels, some blankets, undies, shorts, rags, almost everything. I washed some of my sun dresses and Colin’s shirts by hand. We did have to drive the laundry in ( maybe 1 mile away ) and pick it up again but oh to have it washed, folded perfectly, what a treat. I so wish I could do that here in Canada, now I have to go to the laundry room here at Holiday Park, well until the new house comes that is.
We don’t eat out too much but tried to get out once and sometimes twice per week and spent $486.00 in restaurants including all those margaritas I consumed. Many spend much more but it is a personal choice.
Two years ago I neglected to budget the cost of pulmonias from the water taxi into Mazatlan Centro. Of course you can walk and right now they are fixing up the sidewalks and streets to make it even nicer. This past winter we spent $100.00 on pulmonias which is very reasonable I think but then if you go into Mazatlan more often that cost will increase. I didn’t keep track of the water taxis price, too minimal to even think of.
Extras for us included the vet @ $50.00 for 4 different visits. Extremely reasonable.
We also spent $685.00 on 35 hours of massage therapy between us by a registered massage therapist. That works out to $19.50 per hour. Sheer bliss and a must in our budget!
