It was a fun evening

Last Thursday, the11th, we were putting up some lights outdoors. We got our neighbor from when we lived at #7 to climb up on the high ladder ( which he also brought ) and to do the difficult parts. It took Humberto a few visits to get it all done and we are ever so grateful for any help we can get.

But first I looked up through our tiny view towards the west and decided I needed to get out on the road and check things out.

By walking to the left outside of our gate I came across this newly cleared opening. That is El Faro in the background. With all the rain this past summer everything is overgrown along the shipping channel.

Tris ( and Robbin from Hawaii ) I believe that David might have paid to have this done or maybe shared with the fellow in the two story white house to your left.  It is very well done and I was able to manage to get up on my own to get to the opening.

This is what I saw……spectacular!

A bit of a pan to the right and the Baja ferry.

The color in the sky had not yet reached the car carrier nor the cruise ship and tuna boats.

So this clearing is not ours and I don’t know if we can use it.  I don’t think it would be right to do so. Plus is it a bit of a walk for Colin. So guess what I asked Santa for this Christmas? You would be correct. Yes another Contessa sunset corner 😎 It has been started but I have not yet taken any photos. Sadly as the brush was being cleaned across the site from our gate, it appears that the terrain is about as steep as it was at #7. And we only see our “site builder” every so many days. Might be a New Years project 😉 Hoping it will all work out.

It was so fun to come down the road and turn into our gate and see this.

Ciela waiting for me.

Tis the season and looking ever so festive.

Very carefully I got my ten large Christmas balls hung.

I had already gone in when Colin heard the loud hiss of the snake. It had its head extended and appeared vicious. This was taken later, through the window.

It wanted to go into my bougainvillea plant. That is a machete holding the snake back.

Humberto came immediately. Such a great friend. Notice his machete.

Caught the snake with the broom handle, placed it in a bucket and threw it over the edge into the ocean. Crisis averted!

I do love those sunset photos! Your place is looking very festive but of course happy to know that the snake was tossed into the ocean. I wondered “is that Colin on a ladder” and when I saw the socks I was certain it was Colin. I am so happy that he continues to improve his health. Merry Christmas to both of you.

  6. Loving the festive setup—but even more loving Colin’s comeback tour! He’ll be back to his old habit of overdoing things in no time.

Big cheers for Humberto—especially for handling the snake situation 😊

Wishing you a fantastic, slightly less chaotic week before Christmas!

    Hugs to you both!

Oh Contessa! On the cruise ship, we saw the area you’re at. We will be back again, and next time I will let you know when, and perhaps we can meet up for lunch. We ate at one of the bigger restaurants at the water’s edge the last time.

It looks beautiful there, the view, the lights, you have waiting a long time to get settled again. Your patience and perseverance has paid off everything looks lovely. Seeing Colin up and about and on a ladder brings so much joy to my heart, he has gone through so much and his hard work to regain his strength is showing. I will never forget him trying to teach me dances, how much we all laughed.

What would you guys do without Humberto. That snake looks like a diamond back rattlesnake (I can’t be sure), thankfully he relocated it and hopefully it will be the last.

I know you guys will have a wonderful Christmas together and with friends you have made on your journey. Cherish those moments together as life goes by way too fast.

Sorry, I have to do it. Your poor snake doesn’t have a pit to hiss in!

Great to get your lights up. They are pretty minimal here this year as I am heading down to Penny’s on Sunday for Christmas. Unfortunately, this leaves Kelly by herself here but she has he daughter and SIL in Campbell River. I am hoping to get Penny up here for a few days on New Years’ Eve so we will see what happens. You and Colin have a great Christmas!

It sure looks as if you are everything about it all together. The lights-clouds-and sunset are looking swell also.
What kind of snake?…Where I am we have never had an issue until the globe started getting warmer.
So far two Rattlers have been visiting unwanted and were sent to their promised land.
I love to go out at night and see the stars; and I sure don’t want to step on one…
    Yikes!
    Happy Holidays!
