We have had some very interesting evening skies lately!

These photos go back to Monday September 14th……

Colin’s shot.

This next photo was taken September 19th.

And these final shots were taken this evening. Wow, just wow!

It was a beautiful start to the sunset.

Then the sky quickly began to change.

Colin took these last six photos….the colors are amazing.

I don’t recall ever seeing so much color, especially the deep reds in a sunset before.

As it got darker the cloud formation changed yet again.

Then this happened.

It was unreal – a first for both of us. What is this strange dark tunnel from heaven to the deep sea? UFO? End of the world? It was bizarre and unsettling.

But we do have a Category 5 hurricane offshore and  it is coming closer to us. It is not expected to make landfall but for certain we will have lots of rain and high waves.

Hurricane Polo ( a Cat 5 tonight ) will pass Mazatlan as a Category 4 on Friday.  Meanwhile Tropical  Storm Odalys ( on the left ) Odalys is expected to increase to l Category Hurricane 1 by Wednesday morning and will likely pass Mazatlan as a Category 1. Between them we are expecting high winds, heavy rains and towering 10 to 32 foot waves.

I expect that I will be posting everyday for the next while so please be sure to check in.

Wow, such beautiful sunset photos and you know I love seeing these! That last one almost looks like a “funnel cloud” coming down from the heavens.

I have never commented on any blog before. I have followed your blog for many years and it is favourite of mine. Your pictures have always been wonderful and you write so well. But these pictures take my breath away! How fortunate you are to be in such a wonderful spot. I admire your perseverance and courage over the last 1+ years and in spite of all the difficulties and the pain, you are now in such an amazing place. Thank you for sharing!

    Wow, what stunningly bright colours!!
Does Mexico have a saying for when the sunset is red?
I know that typically a red sunset means the weather will be nice the next day.
Example; red at night, sailors delight. red in the morn, sailors be-warn ( or something like that, lol)
